Ahead of Friday's opening ceremony for the Summer Olympics, Katy Perry has released an intense set of visuals for her single "Rise," which is being used heavily in NBC's promotion of the Games.

The epic clip finds the singer with a giant parachute strapped to her back as she struggles to take flight, instead dangling off a cliff, trudging through rain and sinking in the ocean, repeatedly facing defeat and getting rather beat up physically in the process.

Nonetheless, she fights on and eventually she is soaring through the skies, making for a cinematic story of triumph perfect for the Olympics.
