On what would have been the rap legend's 45th birthday, the first teaser-trailer for the upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez on Me was released Thursday.

Directed by Benny Boom, the film stars Demetrius Shipp Jr. in the lead role with a spot-on rendition of Shakur, following the MC from his early life to his rise within hip-hop and run-ins with police violence to his 1996 death in a drive-by shooting.

All Eyez on Me co-stars Jamal Woolard, who portrayed Notorious B.I.G. in 2009's Notorious, taking on the role once again; additionally, The Walking Dead's Danai Gurira as Shakur's mother, Afeni; Kat Graham as his lifelong friend Jada Pinkett; Stefon Washington as Puff Daddy; and Lauren Cohan as Leila Steinberg, his mentor and manager.

The film is due in theaters on Nov. 11.
