Actress Carrie Fisher, best known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars film franchise, reportedly suffered a heart attack on Friday afternoon. 

TMZ first reported the actress, 60, was "unresponsive" while on a plane arriving from London at Los Angeles International Airport. According to The Los Angeles Times, Fisher went into cardiac arrest and was transported immediately to a nearby hospital, where she was said to be in critical condition.

While the Los Angeles Fire Department declined to offer patient information, it confirmed that they responded to an emergency call from LAX.

“At 12:11 pm. [PST], the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call from LAX for a patient that was in cardiac arrest," Erik Scott, spokesperson for the LAFD, said in a statement released this afternoon. "Firefighter paramedics provided advanced life support and aggressively treated the patient whom was transported to a local hospital.”

As of 5 p.m. PST, Fisher's brother, Todd, told the Associated Press the actress is in stable condition, adding: “She is out of the emergency room.”
