In the latest sign Missy Elliott's long-awaited comeback is still simmering, the rap queen will serve as advisor for her friend and collaborator Pharrell Williams on The Voice's upcoming season, which begins Sept. 21 on NBC.

Us Weekly is reporting Elliott will mentor Williams' team after the initial blind auditions round. Other advisors will include Creedence Clearwater Revival music icon John Fogerty (for Adam Levine's team), country A-lister Brad Paisley (for Blake Shelton's team, of course) and pop starlet Selena Gomez (for returning coach Gwen Stefani).

Fellow Elliott producer Timbaland said in June that she could release a new single by July, but that didn't happen. The good news, however, is that the MC has been hard at work in the studio.

While it's currently unknown how far Elliott is into her new album—her first in over a decade—it's worth noting that The Voice's roster of past advisors (Taylor Swift, Cher, Chris Martin) have typically been on hand to promote or tease their new or forthcoming projects.

A rep for The Voice declined to comment.
