Lily Allen is back. After more than four years off the scene, the singer returned this past week with a cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know." But now she's debuted a new single.

Coming in the form of a corresponding video, "Hard Out Here" is lush and glittery pop but with non-stop bold lyrics, as would be expected from Allen.

The video starts with the singer apparently undergoing surgery to reduce her weight, while the surgeons openly critique her. Allen responds by attacking gender inequality, objectification of women and the struggles over self-image.

Singing very bluntly about issues that are likely personal to her, Allen mocks critics: "You should probably lose some weight...we can't see your bones."

She also specifically lampoons Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" video: "Robin Thicke has a big dick" is swapped out for "Lily Allen has a baggy pussy." (Earlier in the video, she defends her body by reminding viewers that she's had two babies.)

Allen's last album, It's Not Me, It's You, released in February 2009. She has previously foreshadowed the possibility of a new album, although she has been careful not to provide a strict timeline. This simultaneous release of a new single/video is likely a sign that a new full-length is near.
