Just in time for spring, newcomer Tatum Gale is sharing a new song called "Botanical Babe."

The wonderful, buoyant new track is premiering today on Variance ahead of its official release on Friday (April 8), and it showcases the queer techno/art-pop music-maker's disco-tinged ode to a friend with a green thumb and a plant-covered apartment. It's also a preview of Gale's upcoming debut album Pretty Green.

"I built this song entirely from a very literal idea: my dear friend Spencer, who keeps a big collection of very beautiful and creatively named houseplants in his studio apartment in Greenpoint, BK," says Gale. "I knew I needed to write a song about him and his plants, so I asked him to send me a list of their names—those names became the chorus melody, and the rest of the song grew from there."

Check out "Botanical Babe" now.
