Nathan Horst and Jesse Proctor (aka The Light The Heat) are closing out the week on Friday with their new single "Afterlight."

The glowing new cut is the title track from the rising duo's upcoming EP, which marks their first on Nettwerk Records. The song is premiering today ahead of its official release on Friday (Aug. 27).

"Afterlight is a call to be love and light to the world around us, literally wherever we are, wherever we can be. Now more than ever before people are looking for hope and solace. The world is confusing. The line “we won’t let this break, the world is ours to make” is an encouragement for people to move forward and stay positive in the midst of so much ambiguity.”

Especially as so much of the world tries to emerge from difficult times, while still facing so much heartache and uncertainty, "Afterlight" is a reminder of what is good and overall brighter days. It's a welcome sentiment at any time, but it's very much necessary in this moment.

“For us, 2020 was a year of reflection,” says Horst of their new music. “We found ourselves and woke up like, ‘How can we become our true selves and not just be spectators, but actually get involved?’ It encouraged a lot of self-reflection. For me, I focused on being a better dad, a better husband, and a better friend in addition to being aware of societal issues that seem out of reach, but very present in our lives. We try to touch on universal subjects in a tangible way.”
