The Brummies are kicking off the weekend with their new single "After Midnight," and we're stoked because we've got an early listen of the infectious new track.

The self-proclaimed "dark disco" cut is officially out on Friday (Aug. 21), but it's premiering today on Variance, and it's just an irresistible listen, effortlessly riding a wave between shiny pop and rock 'n' roll.

“This is our dark disco song... a great hook up jam," says the band's Jacob Bryant. Bandmate Trevor Davis adds: “It started with me playing this rhythm on keys one night. (At first) it was this long rocking jam that went into this dark halftime outro.”

For his part, the band's John Davidson continues: “It was particularly fun. I was looking for something that deviated from the main melody in the chorus. This song started on a synth, which is the first thing you hear in the song. That was always compelling and it eventually evolved into what is now 'After Midnight.'”

It might seem like summer is quickly disappearing (or maybe it feels like it never arrived), but "After Midnight" may just have you thinking twice about that, delivering the perfect escape from these weird times.
