Australian singer-songwriter Shannen James is ready to release her new single "Collide."
The glowing new track is premiering today on Variance alongside its accompanying video, directed by Middle Kids collaborator Marie Panguad. The track, which was produced by Dylan Nash (who has previously worked with the likes of Dean Lewis and Angus & Julia Stone), is bursting with sunlight—as is the video—which gives off a very Clairo-meets-HAIM vibe.
"It’s a song about connecting with someone who is exactly the polar opposite of you in every way," says James of the new single. "As the old saying goes, ‘Opposites attract.' There’s a common ground of love and an undeniable connection and attraction. ‘Collide’ is delivered as though it’s a romantic encounter. It can be related to all kinds of relationships in our lives. That’s the beauty of it. We all have people who drive us crazy, yet draw us into their worlds because they’re so different from our own. I want this song to be a reminder we can always find something in each other to connect with.”
Within seconds of hearing this song, James' talent is undeniably clear. She's truly one to watch this year.
