Game of Thrones is expected to shoot multiple endings for the series, which heads into production for its eighth and final season next month.

According to a report from the Morning Call, HBO programming president Casey Bloys said last week during a speech at Bethlehem’s Moravian College the network juggernaut would "shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens."

"You have to do that on a long show," Bloys said. "Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end."

Game of Thrones, which averaged a massive 31 million viewers across all platforms during its recent seventh season, has been plagued with leaks in its later years. And with another lengthy wait before its next new episodes arrive, the old-school tactic would likely help retain some of the mystery.

Other hit series such as AMC's Breaking Bad and HBO's The Sopranos also filmed alternate endings to keep the final moments of the show a secret before air.

When previously asked by Entertainment Weekly about methods to protect future episodes, executive producer Dan Weiss declined to offer a concrete answer, lamenting: "We don’t even want to tell you because if we do then somebody will figure out how to circumvent the things that we’re doing."

Following the delayed seventh season, which wrapped last month, the final six episodes aren't expected to arrive until late 2018 or early 2019.
