Beck is finally ready to release his new album, which will be titled Colors.

According to the musician, it will arrive in October, after numerous delays and a couple of false starts. A pre-order page briefly surfaced last month and he had even set an October 2016 release date before quietly scrapping those plans.

"I suppose the record could have come out a year or two ago," Beck told Rolling Stone in a new interview. "But these are complex songs all trying to do two or three things at once. It’s not retro and not modern. To get everything to sit together so it doesn’t sound like a huge mess was quite an undertaking."

Beck also noted the record, which was produced by Sia collaborator Greg Kurstin, is largely reflective of happiness in his personal and home life with his family.

"The best songs make you glad to be alive," he said. "It doesn’t matter if it’s Beethoven or the Monkees. That’s what I was thinking about a lot."

Beck's last album was 2014's Morning Phase, which unexpectedly won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2015. His interview comes as he also has a handful of North American shows scheduled for later this month. He will also join U2 on the road in September.
