2017 Emmy Award Nominees Revealed: 'SNL,' 'Westworld' Lead Pack

This year's Emmy Award nominees have been revealed. And it's a big year for first-timers.

Veep's Anna Chlumsky and Criminal Minds' Shemar Moore revealed the nominations for the 69th annual television awards on Thursday morning, with new series such as Atlanta, This Is Us, Stranger Things, Westworld and The Handmaid's Tale all making appearances, as expected.

With the absence of Game of Thrones because of its delayed season 7 start, the drama categories had plenty of room for newcomers, while other veteran series held on to their standings, Veep, The Americans, Transparent and black-ish among them.

While Thrones might have been missing, HBO certainly was not, snagging a massive 110 nominations, the most for a network. As for individual series, both NBC's Saturday Night Live and HBO's Westworld led the pack with a whopping 22 nods each.

Another highlight is Shannon Purser's Guest Actress in a Drama nomination for her cult favorite role of Barb in Netflix's Stranger Things. #JusticeforBarb indeed. And Ann Dowd is nominated for her roles in both The Leftovers and The Handmaid's Tale. And Chance the Rapper is an Emmy nominee for his Run-D.M.C parody on SNL.

As we previously reported, Stephen Colbert will host this year's Emmys ceremony, which will air Sunday, Sept. 17, on CBS.
