It appears Kanye West is no longer one of Tidal's co-owners.

TMZ reported Sunday the rapper-entrepreneur had long been dissatisfied with the company, claiming the streaming platform is in breach of contract and owes him $3 million.

Sources with knowledge of the situation said Tidal was entitled to a bonus for spurring 1.5 million new Tidal subscribers last year with his album The Life of Pablo. He was also supposed to be reimbursed for related music videos, which Tidal says it did not receive as described.

Tidal is said to have sent Ye a letter pointing to his exclusive contract with the company, warning if he departs for another streaming service, Tidal would sue. But West has reportedly responded in kind, noting he would countersue if Tidal did take action.

News of West's falling out with Tidal comes as co-owner Jay-Z included lyrics in his newly released album 4:44 acknowledging their troubled friendship. "But you got hurt because you did cool by 'Ye / You gave him 20 million without blinkin' / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, fuck was he thinkin'," Jay said in his song "Kill Jay Z."
