SZA's long-awaited debut album CTRL did not arrive on Friday as expected and it's unclear when exactly the record will finally be released.
The singer confirmed the album title last month when she shared her incredible single "Drew Barrymore" and a Feb. 3 release date subsequently appeared in a Billboard interview published on Jan. 23.
That story has since been revised to retract the Feb. 3 date and instead suggest the album is simply coming "very soon." DJBooth reported Friday a source close to SZA's label Top Dawg Entertainment claimed the aforementioned release date wasn't given by TDE. "If it doesn't come directly from TDE then it isn't official," they said.
The label has not yet confirmed an official release and, as of this writing, SZA herself hasn't commented on the timeline. Meanwhile, many fans were disappointed today when they checked for the album.
