As if this rollercoaster year couldn't get any more bizarre, Kanye West stopped by Trump Tower on Tuesday morning for a meeting with Donald Trump.

The rapper arrived around 9:30 a.m. EST, catching the press by surprise. About 30 minutes later he re-emerged alongside the president-elect.

While West didn't answer any questions from the media, only claiming he simply wanted a picture, Trump said they were meeting as "friends," calling the emcee-designer a "good man." When pressed about the topics of discussion, he said they discussed "life."

As with most things Trump, the timing of the meeting between the two men was curious, coming just hours after the future president announced his controversial pick of ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson for secretary of state.

On Monday, Trump—who said this week he doesn't need daily intelligence briefings because is "like, a smart person"—canceled a news conference scheduled for Thursday, in which he had planned to address his business conflicts of interest and detail how he would separate himself from his company.

For West, Tuesday's meeting was one of his first public appearances since being hospitalized for exhaustion last month after canceling the remainder of his tour. Just days before the incident, he interrupted one of his shows to rant about how he would have voted for Trump

E! News has subsequently reported Trump is interested in recruiting West as an "ambassador" in "entrepreneurial leadership." A rep for West did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
