As expected, Frank Ocean has nabbed his first No. 1 album, with Blonde officially debuting in the top spot on the U.S. charts.
According to Nielsen Music, the record, which arrived on Aug. 20, moved 276,000 equivalent album units—of which 232,000 were pure sales and the rest via streaming—through the week ending Aug. 25.
Blonde is the third-highest start of the year, following Drake’s Views (1.04 million units) and Beyonce’s Lemonade (653,000). It's also Ocean's highest sales week, surpassing the 2012 debut of Channel Orange, which debuted and peaked at No. 2 with 131,000 copies sold.
Music Business Worldwide claims that Blonde has been illegally downloaded over 1 million times since its release.
