As James Corden continues proving the popularity of his Late Late Show flagship segment "Carpool Karaoke," Apple Music is betting it's worth turning into a full-on series.
The streaming platform has partnered with CBS Television Studios and Fulwell 73, a production company from Late Late Show executive producer Ben Winston, to develop a 16-episode series featuring celebrity guests singing along to their favorite or popular songs during a car ride.
"We love music, and Carpool Karaoke celebrates it in a fun and unique way that is a hit with audiences of all ages," Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said in a statement on Tuesday. "It's a perfect fit for Apple Music—bringing subscribers exclusive access to their favorite artists and celebrities who come along for the ride."
Karaoke is not Apple Music's first original series in development. As we previously reported, it has also been working on a semi-autobiographical drama starring Dr. Dre.
A premiere date, much less a host, for the series have yet to be announced, but Corden is not expected to be involved with this project.
