As they continue to work on their new album, HAIM said Wednesday they are "finishing up" the sophomore LP, but they'll have to cancel their upcoming European tour in order to complete it.

"We'd hoped to be done with recording," they said in a letter to fans. "But as it turns out, we're at a critical point of finishing up and need to stay close to home until it's complete."

Promising to "be back in the new future" and perform new music, the sibling trio said: "We hate to disappoint you guys that had plans to come see us."

This latest update comes as just last month, the band said they had more than 12 songs written and hoped to release the record this fall, having been working with their Days Are Gone producer Ariel Rechtshaid and ex-Vampire Weekend member Rostam Batmanglij.
