After months of delays, it appears Jay-Z and Will Smith's Annie reboot is inching closer to production. As progress continues to be made behind the scenes, now comes word that Jamie Foxx is being linked to the Daddy Warbucks character (now called Benjamin Stacks—a reference to Founding Father Benjamin Franklin's face on the $100 bill).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor-singer is in talks to star alongside one of this year's breakout stars, Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild), who will portray Annie. The film will be directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits), and Hova is executive producer with Will Smith and his wife Jada.
