Ahead of their joint show together later this month in North Carolina, Death Cab for Cutie and CHVRCHES have made plans to donate all proceeds from the June 16 concert in Charlotte to LGBT charities.

Their decision is in response to the state's controversial House Bill 2, commonly referred to as the "bathroom bill," which prevents transgendered individuals from using restrooms that do not correspond with the gender on their birth certificate.

While a number of high-profile acts have canceled shows in the state, the two acts instead are turning their appearances into fundraisers for the LGBTQ communities.

"We are appalled by how Governor Pat McCrory and his conservative cronies have stoked the flames of fear around an undocumented non-issue (i.e., sexual predators posing as transgender for the purpose of molesting children) as a way to not only discriminate against transgender persons but also to undermine the constitutional rights of North Carolina's entire LGBT community," a joint statement reads. "This nefarious brand of bigotry is embarrassing for the state of North Carolina and has no place in this great nation."

In addition to the June 16 show with CHVRCHES, Death Cab is also set to perform on June 11 in Asheville. Proceeds from both dates will go to Freedom Center for Social Justice and Southerners On New Ground (SONG).
