Mumford & Sons landed nominations for Album of the Year, Rock Performance and Rock Song for "I Will Wait." As we predicted earlier, The Lumineers also surprised with a Best New Artist nod in addition to Best Americana Album.
Traditional "pop" music was largely shut out of this year's major categories, with alternative albums taking three of five Album of the Year nods and Channel Orange and Some Nights not exactly fitting into the bubble gum genre either. Best New Artist also leaned alternative/indie, while Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson were the only true pop nominees for Record of the Year. And no Bieber?
