Three years after the end of The Civil Wars, John Paul White has shared a gripping new cut "Simple Song."
The track finds White singing from the perspective of a woman—inspired by his own grandmother's story—who chooses to uphold her wedding vows despite living with and loving a man who causes her so much emotional pain. But following his death, she declares, "I won't cry for you no more."
"Simple Song" is off Nashville producer Dave Cobb's newly released compilation album, Southern Family, which features the likes of Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Zac Brown, Jason Isbell, Brandy Clark and others.
