Ahead of their performances this week at SXSW in Austin, The Avett Brothers have confirmed their new album True Sadness will arrive on June 24.

As we previously mentioned, the album has been in the works for some time. And in a heartfelt letter to fans, Seth Avett calls the record a "patchwork quilt, both thematically and stylistically. Wherein a myriad of contrasting fabrics make perfect sense on the same plane, this album draws upon countless resources from its writers and performers.”

Avett points to influences from the likes of Queen, Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Gillian Welch, Aretha Franklin, Pink Floyd, Kings of Convenience and others, noting the band "stitched together the boldest red and the calmest green, polka dots and stripes, the roughest denim and the smoothest velveteen. They came together because they are the best patterns we have and because each of us brought our own fabric to the quilting frame.”

"Ain't No Man," the first single from the album, is expected to be released in the coming days.
