With the leak of Eminem's latest album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, many fans have been listening the new set off the grid.

While opinions have varied—and will spike once the album officially releases, it's worth noting one of the rapper's most meaningful tracks: "Headlights," featuring fun.'s Nate Ruess.

From start to finish, each verse sees Em offering a full-throated apology to his mom, of whom he remains estranged. In previous material (notably in "Cleanin' Out My Closet"), the MC has blasted his mother, Debbie Mathers, blaming her for his rough childhood and criticizing her actions as a single mother.

"I went in headfirst, never thinking about who what I said hurt … My mom probably got it the worst," he says at the beginning of the new track. "But I'm sorry mama for 'Cleanin' Out My Closet,' at the time I was angry," continuing by explaining that he no longer plays the song at shows and that "I cringe every time it's on the radio."

He repeatedly expresses his sincerity on the track, in which he admits that he forgives his mother. "All you did, all you said, you did your best to raise us both," he says. "Foster care, that cross you bare, few may be as heavy as yours. But I love you, Debbie Mathers, oh what a tangled web we have."

The Marshall Mathers LP 2 arrives on Nov. 5.
