Lady Gaga will take the stage to honor David Bowie at the 58th Grammy Awards, the Recording Academy announced Tuesday.

Nile Rodgers is directing the tribute, with the Academy noting in a statement that his own history with Bowie "dates back more than 30 years to 'Let's Dance,' the chart-topping 1983 hit that marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship between the two."

As we previously reported, Gaga had already been scheduled to perform during this year's ceremony, but Grammys executive producer Ken Ehrlich said that after Bowie's death, he spoke to the songstress and they agreed that "she should be the one to honor David. She's perfect for it," describing the performance as "one befitting of David."

The singer joins a Grammys lineup that already consisted of Adele, James Bay, Andra Day, Ellie Goulding, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, Carrie Underwood and The Weeknd.

This year's Grammys are set for Monday, Feb. 15, airing live at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST.
