Attendees at Lollapalooza on Saturday night were treated to some great news from Vampire Weekend, who revealed their long-awaited new album is currently being mixed.

Tonight's performance was the band's first North American festival appearance in about four years, following their last album Modern Vampires of the City, which was released five years ago in May.

During the show, in which the band was greeted with elation as they entered to AC/DC's "Back in Black," frontman Ezra Koenig confirmed the band had finished the new full-length, noting they would be back "soon" to perform new material.

Vampire Weekend, whose previous records have been released on indie label XL Recordings, are now signed with Sony Music, which has had the band on its internal release calendar for the third quarter of this year, which would suggest it will likely arrive sooner rather than later.

As of this writing, further details including a release date were not available.
