J. Cole said during his headlining performance Saturday night at the inaugural Meadows Music & Arts Festival in New York it would be his last "for a very long time."

The rapper seemed rather earnest when he stopped halfway through his set last night to inform the crowd he is planning a hiatus, although he stopped short of revealing just how long. “Before I get out of here, listen," he said. "This is my last show for a very long time."

The audience was audibly upset by the news and some in attendance immediately speculated about whether Cole might be starting to work on a new album.

It's worth noting that J. Cole could very easily survive plenty of down time. He was the highest paid rapper on Billboard's 40 Money Makers list in 2015.
