The inevitable has happened. The Civil Wars' Joy Williams has officially—or at least, publicly—reembarked on a solo career.
Nearly a year and a half after canceling their last tour as a duo, Williams shared a brief sample of her recording session from Monday, with the caption: "Started recording a solo album yesterday. Butterflies. Bittersweet. Mostly sweet."
The clip, albeit short, echos some of the familiar sounds fans came to love about the female half of the Wars. Williams originally launched her solo career with a series of contemporary Christian albums, before crossing over in 2008. Her last solo effort was 2010's We Mapped the World EP.
