Sorry, New Girl fans, but you'll be waiting until next January for the show's fifth season to premiere.

Fox revealed Monday as part of its annual upfront presentation for advertisers that three new series, John Stamos' Grandfathered, Rob Lowe's The Grinder and Ryan Murphy's hour-long Scream Queens, will make up the network's Tuesday comedy block for the fall, leaving no room for Zooey Deschanel and Co.

While that may be disappointing news for some, the move is reportedly intended to allow the serialized comedy a chance at airing a full season mostly uninterrupted. A significant portion of Fox's schedule, which has usually included New Girl, is traditionally put on hold multiple times in the fall due to baseball and the holidays.

Coincidentally, New Girl has already filmed several new episodes in an effort to get a head start on season five due to Deschanel's pregnancy, which isn't being written into the show. Creator Liz Meriwether had said earlier this month, prior to the upfront news, that Deschanel would be absent for four episodes.
