As if J. Cole didn't already have a lot to celebrate this week, he's now broken Drake's single-day streaming record.

His new album KOD, which arrived Friday with only four days' notice, has eclipsed Drake's VIEWS' first-day streams on both Apple Music and Spotify with 64.5 million and 36.7 million, respectively.

As Billboard points out, it's worth noting Apple Music has far more subscribers now than it did in 2016 when VIEWS was released, 40 million compared to 13 million back then.

In general, Apple Music subscribers also listen to more hip-hop on average than Spotify subscribers.

Cole first announced his new album last Monday evening, inviting fans in New York to a surprise listening session. He didn't share any music prior to the record's release.

In a trailer released last week, the rapper explained KOD is an acronym for "Kids on Drugs. King Overdosed. Kill Our Demons." He added: "The rest of the album I leave to your interpretation."
