Showtime's Twin Peaks revival will premiere this May, the network announced Monday as part of its panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.

The two-hour launch is set for May 21 at p.m. EST. And it will be the first of 18 total hours, network CEO David Nevins confirmed today.

Nevins also said immediately following the premiere, episodes 3 and 4 would both be released on-demand and on Showtime's streaming platforms.

Admitting the network has already reviewed co-creators David Lynch and Mark Frost's full revival internally, Nevins declared: "The version of Twin Peaks you’re going to see is the pure-heroin version of David Lynch ... I’m very excited to put that out.”

Additionally, Nevins also teased that he wants to "embrace the unusualness" of the show, saying, "I think it is quite possible we're not going to do a traditional release pattern." But he was careful to clarify this revival is "designed to be a closed-ended, one-time event."

The cast for the revival includes a number of returning actors, such as star Kyle McLachlan, Sherilyn Fenn, Madchen Amick, Sheryl Lee and David Duchovny.

There will also be a slew of new characters and cameos from the likes of Laura Dern, Michael Cera, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Sky Ferreira and many more.
