Tracy Morgan has canceled his upcoming show in Robinsonville, Mississippi, over the state's recent anti-LGBT law, the Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act.
Under the law, religious organizations or those with supposed "sincerely held religious beliefs" can legally deny LGBT people marriage, adoption and foster care services; fire or refuse them employment; and decline to rent or sell them property. Additionally, medical personnel would be allowed to refuse treatment or counseling.
"Tracy did not make this decision lightly," a press release from Morgan's team read. "He very much looks forward to rescheduling his tour dates in the area after the ‘Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act’ is either repealed or heavily amended."
Morgan is the latest artist or public figure to cancel an event or appearance in Mississippi or North Carolina as both states have recently passed controversial anti-LGBT legislation, prompting boycotts from business, entertainment and other brands.
The comedian's show in Robinsonville had been scheduled for April 29.
