(07.08.13): Randy Travis is in critical condition at a Texas hospital, his rep has confirmed. The Grammy-winning country singer "is suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy," according to a press statement. He was admitted Sunday, July 7.

Travis made headlines almost a year ago for multiple run-ins with the law for reportedly driving under the influence while naked and threatening to shoot a police officer who arrested him. His truck was also found abandoned in a Texas field last August.

A viral cardiomyopathy is a condition caused by a viral infection in the heart. Travis' rep did not comment on the severity of his illness.
