If you didn't like the How I Met Your Mother series finale (or specifically, the last 10 minutes of it), you may be in luck.

Following what turned out to be one of the most polarizing finishes for a long-running television show, creator Carter Bays revealed on Friday that the forthcoming DVD set of the complete series will feature an alternate ending. According to Deadline, the alternate conclusion does not include additional footage but instead it is edited differently, presumably without certain final scenes.

"If you didn’t like the finale, I guess that happens," Bays tweeted on Friday afternoon. "We tried something and it didn’t connect with you. I hope we’re still friends. So anyway, here’s a bit of news: 16 days ago today we were in the HIMYM edit room, trying to decide between two very different endings. We only shot one script, but through edit room magic we had two possible outcomes for the series. We chose the ending we chose and we stand by it. But we loved the other version too. We’re going to include that version on the Complete Series DVD as an alternate finale to How I Met Your Mother."

Despite varied reactions to the swan song, it was the show's highest-rated episode of its nine-season history. The complete DVD series will arrive this fall.
