With one tweet on Wednesday, Julie Chen started a rumor that Joel McHale was in the running to replace outgoing Late Late Show Craig Ferguson. But according to her husband, CBS CEO Les Moonves, that's not the case.
Moonves said in an interview with Bloomberg on Thursday there had been "no discussion" for McHale to take over Ferguson's desk. While he complimented the former Community star, he said "there are no conversations underway."
Additionally, Moonves clarified that Neil Patrick Harris was never directly offered David Letterman's job specifically, but rather the two had been discussing late-night "possibilities" and ways for him to stay in the CBS family.
