Disney actress-singer Zendaya Coleman will star in an upcoming biopic about the life of Aaliyah.

Tentatively titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B, the project is one of several music-themed films set to premiere on Lifetime. A film based on the life of the late Whitney Houston is also in the works.

Although Aaliyah had a thriving career in the '90s and until her tragic death in 2001, with hits like "Try Again" and "Are You That Somebody," there has yet to be a film based on her life and legacy.

According to Variety, Coleman, known for her role on Disney's Shake It Up! and runner-up status on season 16 of Dancing with the Stars, will record four of the late singer's songs for the film, which is based on the best-selling book, Aaliyah: More Than a Woman, by Christopher Farley.
