The Walking Dead will return for its fifth season on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. EST, AMC revealed Friday at the San Diego Comic-Con.

The new season will consist of 16 episodes split into halves, with the second part premiering next February.

“This is a season that is going to be pretty close to the comics,” creator Robert Kirkman said Friday, speaking at Comic-Con.
