If you've been anxiously waiting for a new album from Claire Boucher (aka Grimes), the wait just got a little longer.
The singer said in a new interview with New York Times Magazine that criticism of her latest track "Go" has led her to toss out the entire album she's been working on and start over.
"Go" was a song she originally wrote for Rihanna but when Boucher released it herself, many fans didn't approve. “I get why it upsets them,” she said of the track. “Everybody was like, ‘Oh, Grimes is pandering to the radio.’ ”
The singer says the feedback confirmed her own doubts about the radio-friendly music she already had in the works. It made her realize "it sucked," so she "threw it out and started again.”
Grimes' forthcoming record was one of Variance's 40 Albums to Watch for in 2014. But perhaps, it might be 2015 or later before it finally arrives.
