Less than a week after controversially pulling Rihanna and JAY Z's "Run This Town" from the Thursday Night Football opener, it appears CBS is cutting the opening theme from all future games as well.

The news arrives only hours after Rihanna took to Twitter blasting the network for its decision last week: "CBS, you pulled my song last week, now you wanna slide it back in this Thursday? NO, fuck you! Y'all are sad for penalizing me for this ... The audacity...."

In a statement on Tuesday, however, CBS Sports claims that "beginning this Thursday, we will be moving in a different direction with some elements of our Thursday Night Football open. We will be using our newly created Thursday Night Football theme music to open our game broadcast."

It was widely believed last week that Rihanna's opening segment had been cut because of her experience with domestic violence in the wake of the NFL's battle to save face following the Ray Rice scandal, among others.

The move comes as Rihanna is said to be in discussions with the NFL to perform next year's Super Bowl XLIX, which will air on NBC.
