Despite slumping ratings, The Mindy Project has been given a major boost of confidence from Fox, as the network has increased its original 15-episode third season to 21 episodes.

The additional six episodes come as the struggling comedy has been performing well on DVR, ranking in the top five live-action comedies in the demographic of women ages 18-34. As Deadline points out, the show has been nearly doubling its audience when 30-day delayed viewing is considered.
