Howard Tabe, an employee at Penmar Golf Course (the reported site of the crash), was on hand and told NBC News "there was blood all over his face,” noting that two doctors had treated Ford, who is an experienced pilot.

According to TMZ, Ford reported engine failure to the Santa Monica Airport control tower and requested an emergency landing shortly before the crash.

Ford's son Ben said on Twitter: "Dad is ok. Battered, but ok! He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man. Thank you all for your thoughts and good vibes for my dad."
