Kendrick Lamar is engaged to his high school sweetheart Whitney Alford, the rapper revealed on Friday.

When asked during an interview with Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club, Lamar to rumors that he is engaged: "Yeah, definitely. I’m loyal to the soil ... “At the end of the day, you want to always have real people around you—period. Whether it's male or female. Everybody that’s been around me has been around me since day one ... People that been by your side, you’re supposed to honor that.”

The MC, who has consistently been rather private about his relationship with Alford, did not provide any other details about their engagement during his interview, although he talked at length about his new album To Pimp a Butterfly and the fact that he doesn't consider the record "preachy" because most of the songs have been personally "therapeutic" for him.
