Photos of Khalid performing, by Dan DeSlover

Three months removed from opening for Travis Scott during a sold-out show in the Eagles Ballroom at The Rave in Milwaukee, Khalid found himself headlining the same venue with another capacity crowd on Friday. The 19 year-old singer-songwriter is indeed growing his audience as his debut album American Teen has already been certified Gold, while his guest vocals on the Logic smash-single, “1-800-273-8255” is only helping to flame the fire.

From the uplifting title-track “American Teen” to the bouncy “Let’s Go," Khalid had the entire general admission floor swaying to his jams. He worked through his entire debut album during the roughly 70-minute set, adding his collaborations with Marshmello (“Silence”) and Calvin Harris (“Rollin”) for good measure. However, it was the luscious groove “Location” and moody “Young Dumb & Broke” that truly unhinged the crowd.

Khalid has also been added as a performer for the MTV Video Music Awards, set for this Sunday. He is nominated for Best New Artist.
