As millions gathered in cities across the globe for Saturday's Women's March on Washington, the likes of Alicia Keys and Janelle Monáe performed in support.

Keys told the crowd: We are mothers. We are caregivers. We are artists. We are activists. We are entrepreneurs, doctors, leaders of industry and technology. Our potential is unlimited. We rise!"

Adding that "we will not allow our bodies to be owned and controlled by men in government, or men anywhere for that matter," Keys then read Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise” and performed her own hit song “Girl on Fire.”

Monáe took to the stage joined by the mothers of Eric Garner, Dontre Hamilton, Trayvon Martin, Jordan Davis and Mohamed Bah. Before performing her song “Hell You Talmbout," the singer-actress reminded the crowd and others watching, “It was woman who gave us Martin Luther King. It was woman who gave us Malcolm X ... And it was a woman who gave us Jesus.”

Maxwell was also at the Washington event to perform a cover of Kate Bush’s “This Woman’s Work.” And as we previously mentioned, Madonna also delivered a lengthy speech and performance of "Express Yourself."
