With incredible momentum, GROUPLOVE has captured the hearts of many since their debut album, 2011’s Never Trust A Happy Song, and five-piece plans to continue that growth with their followup, Spreading Rumors, which arrived earlier this month.

It’s difficult to listen to any of the band’s music and not find yourself playing the songs on repeat. The quintet has the ability to write infectious music that sinks into your mind and stays around for a bit.

The new album is everything a GROUPLOVE fan could hope for, filled with the catchy riffs and surprising lyrics that make up the band’s signature sound.

Since the release of the first album, the band has been on the road constantly. The more time they spent together, they ultimately found themselves becoming even more like family.

“I guess we, as musicians, we know each other a lot better,” explains bassist Sean Gadd of the band’s relationship. “When we recorded Never Trust A Happy Song, we hadn’t actually toured with those songs.”

He continues: “Now we’ve been a band on the road for three years and we know each other so well as musicians and know more about how we think and how we play.”

The sophomore record can be tough for any band, and if the first album had a lot of success, there might be pressure to please fans, in addition to feeling the need to meet certain expectations. Luckily, GROUPLOVE does not disappoint. The first single from the new album, “Ways To Go,” has already seen great success and a ton of radio airtime.

Gadd says that “not knowing what to expect is what to expect from GROUPLOVE.” They have a unique and authentic sound that is recognizable, but they continue to cleanse the pallet with surprising new music and new ways to present it.

The band is currently on tour, doing a handful of sold-out, two-night shows in the same city. One night is a laid back acoustic set, like you’ve never seen them before, and the other night is the all-out rock show you expect from the band. Additionally, the band is set to tour through the end of the year, including shows in the U.K., before starting out 2014 in Australia.

The new album, Spreading Rumors, is out now via Canvasback/Atlantic.
