It should hardly come as a surprise, but Seth Meyers will host the 2014 Emmy Awards on Aug. 25.

The awards are airing on NBC this year, so that's how Meyers got the gig. As Variety points out, network execs are likely hoping the new host of Late Night will get a ratings/profile boost out of his turn at the helm. His predecessor Jimmy Fallon hosted the Emmys in 2010 and things certainly worked out well for him since.

Of course, Meyers will have to brush up on his celeb/pop culture dish, since it's unlikely folks like John McCain and Rachel Maddow will be in attendance. To his credit, Meyers has previously hosted the ESPY Awards on ESPN.
