Once reluctant to allow users to stream content on mobile devices without a premium account, Hulu will soon open free streaming of TV episodes across all devices.

Consumers currently have to maintain a paid Hulu Plus account to receive content on devices such as an iPad or smartphone, but beginning this summer, that will no longer be the case, the company confirmed on Wednesday.

The company said it will "begin delivering a selection of ad-supported full TV episodes on mobile devices," similar to the free streaming available on desktops. Hulu also revealed plans to revamp its iOS app later this summer, although it offered no details.
