J. Cole is up to something.

The rapper tweeted "it's time" shortly after 4 p.m. EST. The tweet has since been deleted, but he followed with an invitation for a surprise event.

"NYC. Come through. Couple hours from now. First come first serve," he said along with an image bearing his name saying "No phones, no cameras, no bags, no press list, no guest list."

The event is at the Gramercy Theatre in New York. Doors open at 6 p.m. And this is a 500-cap venue, so those who actually get in will be part of a very intimate show.

Over the weekend, the NBA revealed a TV spot featuring a new verse from Cole. His last album, 4 Your Eyez Only, was released back in 2016. It's worth noting, he dropped that record with only a week's notice, so he has a history of surprises.

Reps for J. Cole were not immediately available for comment.
