Rick Ross was hospitalized Friday after being found unresponsive early this morning in his Florida home.

TMZ was first to report Ross had been taken to a nearby hospital in Miami. According to sources with knowledge of the rap mogul's health status, he is being treated in the cardiac unit, perhaps an indication he had suffered from a heart attack or gone into cardiac arrest.

As of Friday evening, Ross had been placed on a form of life support called extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, a machine which pumps and oxygenates a patient's blood outside the body, similar to the heart-lung by-pass machine used in open-heart surgery.

Ross has been hospitalized multiple times in recent years, most recently back in 2011 after suffering from seizures, something he has previously blamed on a lack of sleep.

Reps for Rick Ross have were not immediately available for comment.

Update: According to Fat Trel, rapper and Rick Ross collaborator, Rozay is not on life support. He said Friday night on Instagram the latter is in fact in the hospital but "good," he assured fans after speaking with him.
