2018 Grammy Award Nominees: Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino, Lorde & More

Artwork courtesy Recording Academy

The 2018 Grammy Award nominations were revealed bright and early on Tuesday morning.

The nominees were definitely full of some unexpected results. Surprisingly, Jay-Z leads with eight nominations, including in Record, Album and Song of the Year categories. Meanwhile, Childish Gambino scored surprise nominations for Record of the Year ("Redbone") and Album of the Year (Awaken, My Love!).

Another surprise is seeing Ed Sheeran completely shut out of the top four categories, after arguably being a frontrunner for an Album of the Year nod. Interestingly, his buddy Taylor Swift (also a Grammy fave) didn't manage to sneak in a nomination for "Look What You Made Me Do," which was released prior to the Sept. 30 deadline, unlike her album Reputation, which will contend at the 2019 Grammys.

It's also worth noting, unlike in previous years when there seemed to be at least one slot reserved for a country artist amongst the big four categories, the genre is not present in any of the general fields, not even in the Best New Artist race, which will see Alessia Cara, Khalid, Lil Uzi Vert, Julia Michaels and SZA compete for the title.

As we previously mentioned, next year's 60th annual Grammy ceremony will be held on Jan. 28, returning to New York for the first time since 2003.

See the list of nominees below as it becomes available. The full list can also be found here.
